Shop.com, operated by Market America, has announced a partnership with cryptocurrency payment service provider BitPay. This will allow the site to accept payments for goods in bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. During checkout, Shop.com users will be able to pay through the BitPay operator using their cryptocurrency wallet.
Shop.com President and COO Steve Ashley said that the ability to pay for purchases with cryptocurrencies on the platform has become available in all countries where Market America operates.
BitPay Chief Commercial Officer Sonny Singh called Shop.com and Market America great brands for the international adoption of cryptocurrencies. He noted that 40% of the platform’s sales come from America alone, and in countries such as Thailand, Argentina, Brazil and Indonesia, it is very difficult to make payments.
